A registered agent is any autonomous process added through the Scalekix SDK with a register() call. That includes background workers, API clients, orchestration nodes, and scripts operating without direct human input. Agents are counted using their unique Scalekix credential, rather than deployment instance. Running one agent across three environments counts as three registered agents.

Yes. Upgrades apply immediately, with a prorated charge for the rest of the period. Downgrades begin when the next billing period starts. If you move to Pilot, agents beyond the 5-agent limit are suspended until you register them again on a paid plan.

With annual billing, you pay for 12 months upfront at a 15% discount from the monthly rate. Builder annual costs $1,524 per year (versus $1,788 monthly). Platform annual costs $6,108 per year (versus $7,188 monthly). Annual billing is charged once when your term begins and cannot be refunded.

When you try to register an agent beyond your plan limit, the registration call returns an error and the agent remains unregistered. Your current agents are unaffected. You will be notified at 80% of your limit, and you can upgrade from the dashboard whenever needed.

Pilot is a permanent free tier, not a trial period. It provides a fully functional environment for building and testing with up to 5 agents. When you need production support for more agents, upgrade to Builder or Platform. Paid tiers do not include time-limited trials, but you can begin with Pilot and upgrade when required.

When downgrading from Builder to Pilot, your existing logs remain available for 30 days from the downgrade date. Export any logs you need to retain before changing plans. Platform users exporting to their own SIEM keep those events there regardless of their Scalekix plan.
