Use Case

Credentials designed for AI agents, never humans

Each autonomous agent in your pipeline receives its own cryptographic credential. Not a username, shared service token, or borrowed human session.

The Problem

Shared credentials destroy accountability

When ten agents use one API key, the audit log reports that the service account did everything. You cannot identify which agent made a destructive call, which agent has excessive access, or which credential needs rotation after a failure.

No actor trail

Every agent appears under one identity in the access log. You cannot tell which particular agent caused a policy violation or unexpected action.

One rotation, broad impact

Rotating a compromised shared key interrupts every agent using it at once. Coordination work grows with the number of agents sharing the secret.

Permission drift between teams

Agents gain permissions over time because agent-level scoping is tedious and manual. Shared tokens retain every permission any agent previously required.

The Solution

One agent, one credential

Individually register each agent

The Scalekix SDK register() call provisions a unique credential for a named agent. Set its permitted scopes, credential lifetime, and tags during registration.

Every request goes through the gateway

Swap the agent's direct API request for an invoke() call. The Scalekix gateway validates the credential, checks its scope, and proxies the request. Your target system receives a scoped token rather than the raw credential.

Agent timeline in dashboard

Each agent action creates a structured log event tied to that agent's credential. Filter, export, and inspect any agent's activity over any time range.

Revoke one agent, change nothing else

If an agent misbehaves or its environment is compromised, revoke that credential from the dashboard or through the API. Other agents remain unaffected. Revocation spreads within seconds.

Integration Example

Getting started takes two calls

Python
import scalekix

# Register the agent once (at deploy time)
agent = scalekix.register(
    name="data-pipeline-agent",
    scopes=["db:read", "storage:write"],
    ttl_hours=720
)

# At runtime: invoke through the gateway
response = agent.invoke(
    target="https://internal-api.example.com/data",
    method="GET"
)
Node.js
import { Scalekix } from '@scalekix/sdk'

// Register the agent once
const agent = await Scalekix.register({
  name: 'data-pipeline-agent',
  scopes: ['db:read', 'storage:write'],
  ttlHours: 720
})

// At runtime: invoke through the gateway
const response = await agent.invoke({
  target: 'https://internal-api.example.com/data',
  method: 'GET'
})
